The Semitic Museum is devoted to preserving and interpreting the language and culture of Semitic races, a term that covers a great swath of history, tradition, and geography. The museum houses pottery, sculpture, currency from countries and regions ranging from Jordan to Cyprus to Egypt to Tunisia. It has also sponsored pivotal excavations to these places. It lies in the heart of the Harvard campus, across between the Peabody Museum and Yenching Library.
